We regret @EUCouncil@twitter.com's continued refusal to grant wider access to a legal opinion on the EU-UK trade agreement after #Brexit, and confirm our finding of maladministration.

Transparency can help maintain public support for sanctions aimed at stopping Russia's war in #Ukraine. @EUCouncil@twitter.com is doing a lot to keep people informed.
But some key documents are not proactively disclosed. We have asked Council to consider doing so.
Following our inquiry, @EU_Commission@twitter.com granted greater #accesstodocuments related to medical masks distributed during #COVID19, but almost 2 years after first request. We confirm finding of maladministration - access delayed is access denied. #transparency
The logo has been designed for us by @EUlawdatapubs@twitter.com.
For the visual identity - which encompasses complementary visual elements, colours, events material, etc. we worked with #PomilioBlumm, a design agency from Italy.
The presence of the EU flag makes it clear that we are part of the collection of EU institutions and bodies.
The stylised waves of the logo resemble a bird in flight. Its vantage point signifies the view the Ombudsman has over the EU administration.
The three elements represent the Ombudsman's mission: accountability, transparency and trust.

To know more about the #revolvingdoors issue, and why it is important for EU citizens, see our thread here: https://twitter.com/EUombudsman/status/1526894451867656192
So what needs to change?
The πͺπΊ administration should become more aware of how certain actions are perceived. This can help reduce problematic #RevolvingDoors cases.
This would benefit both the EU administration and the public.
Are there rules to prevent #RevolvingDoors?
EU rules range from temporary lobbying bans to forbidding officials from taking private sector posts if there is a strong conflict of interest risk.
The problem is they are not always enforced properly.
What's the issue with #RevolvingDoors?
Public officials moving to the private sector may take insider info with them or attempt to influence former colleagues. This can undermine the public's trust in the πͺπΊ administration and its work.

The report also gives details on a range of inquiries, including:
- accessibility of @Frontex@twitter.com complaints mechanism
- how @EU_Commission@twitter.com ensures HR authorities respect #fundamentalrights in border management ops
- how @EIB@twitter.com should improve #transparency about projects it finances
Today, we launched the report on our activities in 2021.
The report documents the impact of our work in the #accesstodocuments, #revolvingdoors, ethics and #transparency areas, among others.
