We were honoured to have 🇺🇦 Ombudsman Denisova at our conference last week, reporting about #warcrimes and the refugee situation.
Several members of #ENOnetwork signed a joint declaration reaffirming their solidarity with Denisova and #Ukraine.
During the own-initiative inquiry, 18 ombudsmen from #ENOnetwork, as well as @MyEDF@twitter.com and @ENIL_EU@twitter.com, provided input and expertise.

The help given to 🇺🇦 Ukrainian refugees should be the benchmark for all refugees, regardless of where they come from.
Local authorities have been at the forefront - along with civil society and volunteers - in welcoming refugees and making the rights in the EU temporary directive come alive.
Problems noted by #ENOnetwork Ombudsmen include:
- a lack of psychologists
- the risk of human trafficking
- ensuring the rights of non-Ukrainians fleeing 🇺🇦 #Ukraine
#ENOnetwork Ombudsmen described their work at the borders with 🇺🇦 #Ukraine and the specific needs of women and children who have been traumatised by what they have witnessed or been subjected to.
The European Network of Ombudsmen #ENOnetwork can help ensure that Ukrainian refugees get access to the rights - accommodation, education, social welfare - they are entitled to.
Commissioner Denisova’s account underlined how important it is for ombudsmen to challenge democratic erosion at every turn. Unchecked small transgressions can evolve into bigger ones.

We were honoured that Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Denisova spoke at our annual #ENOnetwork conference to give an account of war crimes being committed in 🇺🇦 #Ukraine and how best to help refugees.
Day two of #ENOnetwork conference - Great to continue discussions with fellow ombudsmen about digitalisation of public administrations and to hear first-hand accounts of the challenges this can present.
The task of public administrations is to help people. We have fight for this mindset every day - Ülle Madise, Estonian Ombudsman
#ENOnetwork
It is the public administration that needs to adapt to the citizens, and not the citizens to the administration - Claire Hédon,
@Defenseurdroits@twitter.com
#ENOnetwork
It is not just older people who are marginalised by digitalisation. There are many young people who don’t have the required digital skills - Thomas Lecourt from @EmmausConnect@twitter.com
#ENOnetwork
Digital tools have to be truly accessible – they have to be accessible by people with all types of disabilities, says Ülle Madise, Estonian Ombudsman
#ENOnetwork
Clarity in digital world is important – administrations need to tell people how and when to use the tools, and be able to troubleshoot problems, when they occur - Reinier van Zutphen, @nat_ombudsman@twitter.com
#ENOnetwork
The burden is now on the users to try manage digital tools rather than on the public administration to provide citizen friendly services, says Claire Hédon, @Defenseurdroits@twitter.com
